Commemoration of the victims of the 1941 deportations


On June 14, 2021, a commemoration event took place at the Ludza railway station, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the first mass deportations of 1941 that was organized by the Soviet Union after the occupation of Latvia.

In commemoration of the victims of the deportation, specialists of Ludza Regional Studies Museum A. Loseviča and V. Dzevaltovskis read the names of 250 repressed residents of the Ludza district. V. Razumovska, the director of Ludza People’s House, addressed the audience with a solemn message. In honor of the victims, the head of Ludza municipality E. Mekšs, the executive director of Ludza municipality S. Jakovļevs, the employees of Ludza Regional Studies Museum and the participants of the event laid flowers at the memorial at the train station.
