The first personal art exhibition of G. Tolordava in Ludza museum


Doctor Georgy Tolordava began to paint back in his youth days. But, as the artist himself says, the eight years spent in Ludza were his most prolific years. In that time he’s made about a 100 artworks, depicting Latgale and Georigia’s landscapes, as well as a few still lives.

G. Tolordava’s personal exhibition will be opened in Ludza Regional Studies on 17th May, 2018. Everyone is cordially invited to visit the exhibition and get familiar with the artist’s artworks.

Georgy Tolordava was born on 31st May 1952 in Sukhumi (Abkhazia). In 1969 he gratuated Sukhumi comprehensive school and in 1971 went to Riga institute of medical Department of Medicine. He graduated it in 1977. From 1977 to 1980 G. Tolordava worked as an urologist surgeon in Ludza district central hospital. From 1980 to 1983 he acquired additional qialifications in urology residency of Moscow medical institute. G. Tolordava left Ludza in 1984 and went back to Abkhazia to work in Sukhumi as a urologist. In 1988 Tolordava received a patent for his invention – an instrument used for kidney surgeries. From 1991 to 1993 he worked as the president of Abkhazia Doctors Association. In September 1993 because of the civil war in Georgia he was forced to flee Abkhazia and move to Tbilisi, Georgia. From 1993 to 2008 he was the head of a private medical and diagnostics clinic Abkhazeti. In 2002 G. Tolordava received a docent rank of Tbilisi medical institute. In the same year he was also awarded with a Medal of Honour for organising the medical help during the civil war in Georgia. In 2009 G. Tolordava moved with his family to Ludza and works here as a urologist. In 2016 G. Tolordava published a book, Memoirs of Abkhazia refugee doctor.
